FAQ
Do I need a referral from a healthcare professional?
I welcome referrals from GPs, Psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals. I also accept self‑referrals for individuals who wish to contact me directly. If, during our work together, it becomes clear that additional or specialist input would be beneficial (e.g. Psychiatry or Dietetics), I am able to refer you to other mental health professionals or services to ensure you receive the most appropriate support.
What can I expect?
In the first instance, my PA will contact you to arrange an initial appointment.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an initial assessment in which I will ask questions about any problems and ask you to complete some short questionnaires. I will also give you some more information about my services and ask you to complete a short client information form.
How long does each session last?
Sessions last for 50 minutes.
Can I bring someone with me to the first session?
If you feel that this would be helpful as part of the assessment. For adolescents, I would expect a parent (or parents) to attend part of the assessment.
When do you offer appointments?
I currently see clients most days (as part of my own practice and through Cognacity). I do not offer weekend sessions.
I work full-time, do you see people in the evenings?
Yes, however, these sessions are reserved for my athlete and dance clients.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is treated as confidential. If, during the course of therapy, I become concerned that you may be at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or if there are concerns about harm potential from others or any safeguarding issues, I will need to break confidentiality. I will always discuss this with you before taking any action. Please note that I do not provide crisis or emergency support.
How much do the sessions cost?
My rates vary according to the type of work (therapy or sports and exercise consultancy) and whether you are paying as a private individual or have private insurance. I am registered with all the main private healthcare insurance companies. On occasion, I will offer a discounted fee for those suffering financial hardship. All self-paying clients will be invoiced and required to pay in advance of any booked session. Please contact
How many sessions will I need?
The number depends upon the problem and its severity. On average, therapy clients attend between 8 and 12 sessions, and I will initially contract for six sessions and then review at the end of this period. Sports and exercise performance clients will typically average around six sessions.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for a cancellation; otherwise, you will be charged for the session.
